SubAccounts

You can use SubAccounts to log in once and post from any of your accounts. Once you pick an account to be your 'parent' account, you only need to log into that account. Switching between accounts is as simple as using a drop-down menu (located next to your account image and name at the top of the site).

Creating a New SubAccount:
To add a new account
  • Log into your Parent Account.
  • Go to Profile, Modify Profile, then Manage SubAccounts
  • Create/Link
  • Create the new username and new password for what will be your new SubAccount.

Linking Your SubAccounts:
If all your accounts are separate
  • Decide which of your accounts will be your Parent Account. Log in.
  • Go to your profile, Modify Profile, then "Manage Subaccounts"
  • Create/Link
  • Input the username and password of another of your accounts.
  • Repeat for all of your accounts.

Changing Your Parent Account:
Change at any time
  • Decide which of your accounts will be your Parent Account. Log in.
  • Go to your profile, Modify Profile, then "Manage Subaccounts"
  • Click the  (Make Parent) icon near the account you wish to make your Parent Account.

Tagging

Tags at AO make it easier to find threads by character, date, and plot.

Tag Formats

Separate tags with commas, and please do not include brackets, parentheses, or other extras around the tag.

  • Dates:
    • January 1 2008  (This format identifies the specific day)
    • January 2008  (This tag identifies all threads in that month)
  • Plot Examples:
    • Remembering Day Murders
    • Runespoor Smuggling
  • Characters:
    • Fauna Blake  (Use the full name)
  • Classes:
    • Class  (The tag used to identify every class thread)
    • Ancient Runes  (A class tag for a specific subject)

Known Issue
New tags do not recognize punctuation. Staff will periodically go through the tag database and correct them.

Drafts

1. When you begin a post, you can choose to 'Save as Draft'.

2. Once a draft is saved, you can access drafts from your profile. Go to 'profile', click 'profile info', click 'show posts', and then click 'drafts'. From there, you can edit your drafts and then post them like you would a regular post. If you can't find a Draft, check other SubAccounts. It will save to the account you logged in as, not necessarily the account you select for the post.

*BUG: Sometimes, when posting to a thread from a draft, the thread will automatically lock. You may need to ask a staff member to unlock the thread.

Notepad

The notepad feature can be used for personal notes and reminders. You can access the Notepad by going to your profile, then clicking on 'notepad'.
