[August 14th] Hogwarts? (Alexandra) on December 05, 2011, 07:01:56 PM Herschel had heard about the young werewolf girl from the ministry of magic. He couldn't believe that someone so young would be deprived of the chance to go to Hogwarts. After Persepolis had asked him to reconsider, and he had given it a lot of thought, Herschel Reid had decided to allow Alexandra McGee and Olivia Foley to attend Hogwarts the following year. Everyone deserved the chance for a great education, and depriving a girl who had yet to see her first year at Hogwarts just seemed wrong. The Headmaster had owled ahead, asking Alexandra's parents if they could make time to meet with him to discuss their daughter's condition and her future at Hogwarts. Headmistress Snark had not allowed werewolves. And, initially, Herschel had agreed with her decision. But even the strongest of oaks can be swayed in the storm.Arriving at the McGee home he knocked loudly on the door, hoping that the young girl would be glad for the news and that her parents would agree that the precautions he had to take to protect the rest of the school from her condition were necessary and not too harsh. Lexi set down her cards, "I'll get it." She said drowsily, her recovery from the attack going slowly. As she stood up from her chair, Lucas flashed by her and ran to the front door with Josh hot on his brothers heels. "Oh no, boys stop!" She yelled after them. Lucas opened the door cautiously, peeking through the crack between the door and the frame. "Hello?" He said, "Who are you?" Josh pushed his brother out of the way and opened the door a bit more. "Mommy says we can't talk to strangers. Bye!" Josh said shutting the door in the mans face. They both ran off as Lexi re-opened the door. "I'm sorry," she apologized. She held her hand out to shake his, "I'm Lexi and those are my brothers, they're not the best greeters in this house. Come on in, my father's in the kitchen." She said inviting him in. "I'm Headmaster Reid," he answered the question, and then another boy opened the door further- stating they weren't allowed to talk to strangers. Good advice, to be certain, and then the door slammed in his face. He smiled in genuine amusement, and moments later a young girl opened the door- apologizing. He shook her hand, and followed the girl inside. "It's nice to meet you Lexi, I'm Headmaster Reid- current Headmaster of Hogwarts. And there's no need to apologize. Little boys can be quite mischievous." He was a little boy once, and remembered what it was like. He also had children and grandchildren of his own, so he was accustomed to their peculiar behavior. "I'm very glad you and your father could make a little time to meet with me," he said to the young girl. "Lead the way? I'm sure your father is very interested to hear what I have to say." "They sure can," Lexi said in agreement to his statement about mischevious little boys."I'm very glad you and your father could make a little time to meet with me," he said, "Lead the way? I'm sure your father is very interested to hear what I have to say." Lexi walked down the hallway and into the kitchen are where her father was sitting. He stood up and welcomed the guest, "Pleased to meet you Mr. Reid. My name is George McGee." He said, introducing himself. A moment later, Lexi's mother walked into the room. "I'm Lexi's mother, Caitlyn. I'm a witch and my husband George is a muggle." "But daddy's special too," Lexi explained. "He's a spy! Well actually, not a spy but his job is like a spy's job..." Caitlyn shot Lexi a look that told her to quiet down. "Sorry," she said. She turned back to the headmaster, "Are you in charge of Hogwarts? Do you get to tell everybody what to do? Are you here because I'm a werewolf? Cuz Alice said the old headmaster didn't let wolves go to school, but it's different now. Right?" Lexi asked, the hope obvious in her voice. (Alexandra) Reply #4 on January 01, 2012, 06:45:47 PM Herschell shook hands with Alexandra's father, and bowed stiffly in the direction of her mother when she introduced herself. "It is certainly a pleasure, Mr. and Mrs. McGee," he said. He smiled when the little girl went on- quite excited- about how her father was like a spy. And her enthusiastic questioning was taken in stride. Herschel was accustomed to dealing with young children. Their youthful exuberance was something he often envied. "I am in charge of Hogwarts," he answered. "And I get to make some of the rules. Your being a werewolf is the reason for my visit." There- all the questions were answered save one."And I intend for things to be different this year," he added. Herschel took a seat across from Alexandra's father. "I intend to allow werewolves to study at Hogwarts. It is a decision which was made with much thought. Essentially, I could not find any reason to deny a young witch or wizard a real education due to the ailment. As long as the proper precautions are taken, then I see no reason for you to be denied the chance to attend Hogwarts." The last part was spoken more toward Lexi, though the former more to her parents."There is another girl who will be attending Hogwarts that is a werewolf," he added. "She is a few years older than you. But I am hoping that the two of you will be able to become friends and help each other out. Miss Foley has been a werewolf a long time, and I'm certain she'd be a great help to you as you learn how to manage your condition."Herschel looked to her parents again. "I have spoken with thead of the magical creatures at the Ministry, and have arranged for both Alexandra and Miss Foley to go to the ministry during the full moon. They will receive their wolfsbane, and have a place to themselves within the ministry for the full moon. It's important that we give them the chance to go to Hogwarts, but equally important to protect the other students.""They would be together, and separated from the other werewolves. It should be less intimidating that way for the two of them, and hopefully make it less intrusive. They will have to work harder in classes, but won't be penalized for missing any classroom hours while they are away for the full moon."Herschel paused for a few moments, letting the words sink in. "Of course, this is all dependant upon your agreement," Herschel said. "You are welcome to educate Lexi at home, but I do hope you won't find the arrangements I've made to be overdramatic. It is really the safest and the best way to allow both Lexi and Miss Foley to attend Hogwarts without putting the other students at risk." Skip to next post Re: [August 14th] Hogwarts? "Oh," Alexandra said, "I met her at the ministry, she's very nice." Alexandra lowered her voice a little and whispered, "but she's a little strange as well." Mr. Reid sat across from her father and began to explain how she would be allowed to go to Hogwarts, even though she was a werewolf. Lexi climbed into the chair next to her father and tried to follow along with the adults conversation. Herschel told her parents how she would go to the ministry and talk her wolfsbane during the full moon, seperate from all the other werewolves though. Lexi breathed a sigh of relief, she was really worried after the first time around that she'd have to be with all the other were's who were older than her."You are welcome to educate Lexi at home, but I do hope you won't find the arrangements I've made to be overdramatic. It is really the safest and the best way to allow both Lexi and Miss Foley to attend Hogwarts without putting the other students at risk." Mr. Reid finished and waited for their response. "Daddy," Lexi begged, "please let me go to Hogwarts. Alice and Annette and Dessa would miss me if I didn't." She looked up at him with a big pout on her face and her best puppy dog eyes. "Alright, calm down." Mr. McGee turned back to Herschel, "I believe that the arrangements are fine, wouldn't have it any other way. It's fine by me for Lexi to go, I approve of what you're doing very much. Thank you for giving her a chance."Lexi's mom just stood there and didn't say a word, after her husband finished speaking, she left the room with a roll of her eyes. Before leaving, they could hear her say "Waste of time." Mr. McGee winced at his wife's rude behavior and turned back to Mr. Reid. "I do apologize for her... lack of respect. It's been hard on her with the new change and all." He stood up to shake Herschel's hand, "I do want to thank you very much, It means alot to us that you would consider letting her attend." She was already listing other girls- friends, Herschel presumed- that would miss her if she was forced to remain at home. He smiled when the girl's father said that the arrangements were suitable, and that he would allow his daughter to attend Hogwarts.Herschel watched as her mother left the room, claiming it was a waste of time. Their issues at home- or marital issues- were clearly none of his business, and Herschel intended to ignore the rude comment from the lady. Her husband apologized on her behalf, and he nodded. "I imagine that it is a very difficult situation for all of you, but time will make the difference."He stood, shaking Mr. McGee's hand. "I am glad to be doing something food, both for you daughter and for Miss Foley. I look forward to seeing her grow and pursue a proper education in the halls of Hogwarts. I want to assure you, as well, that I am going to be keeping a close eye on things. I will not allow your daughter to be harassed or bullied, and my students and staff will respect my decisions and obey all rules that I set forth. I will not turn my back on your daughter once she enters the halls of Hogwarts.""I do hate to rush off, but I have many pressing matters to attend to as the school year draws near. Have you any questions, Mr. Mcgee, Alexandra?" he asked both of them. Skip to next post
