Delia Morris

From Absit Omen Lexicon
(Redirected from Dilly Morris)

Dilly was stray kid living in London, picking pockets and bothering adults.

Physical Description

Dilly is small for her age, which makes her look younger than she is. She has short dark hair, dark eyes and an olive complexion. Her clothes are shabby hand-me-downs, more typically trousers than skirts. If she’s wearing something nice she probably stole it. Dilly is almost always in need of a bath. However she cleans up nicely, if there’s a good reason for it. She can be the very picture of adorable...

History

Dilly was born on the wrong side of the blanket, in early summer. Nothing is known of Dilly’s father. Little is known about her mother except that she was unmarried, and not considered respectable even in Muggle society. When Dilly was two years old her mother was struck by a car while crossing a street, intoxicated. Dilly was brought to St. Ursula’s Home for Female Orphans; where she remained until she was seven. It was then that she first began to show her magical capabilities, doing things like levitating crayons and other small objects. She also discovered her skills as a pickpocket.

Unlike Tom Riddle she did not use her skills to bully or steal from other children. At that time she used what she learned mainly to entertain herself and others. She always gave back what she stole; and was wise enough to keep her abilities secret from the adults. However, as soon as she was able she used her powers of levitation to float out of a third-story window (falling the last few feet and bruising her bum). Then she ran away. After a week in the London streets she stumbled across the entrance to Diagon Alley, and from there found her way to Knockturn Alley, where she found many people in an easy condition to lift things from their pockets, and few to care that she did. Of course she’s savvy enough to keep quiet that she’s Muggle-born.
