Milton "Mace" Steinbeck was a graduating Salem Senior participating in the TWT. Though he has the visage of a tough guy and known to be a powerful sports player he's actually soft, a gooey caramel center to a rock hard chocolate bar. He's notorious for selective attention to academics to pursue his own interests, hobbies including saxophone, weapon collecting and his true calling, raising Puffskeins and Pygmy Puffs.
At Absit Omen
Mace assisted with landing Salem's Dragodirigible as the American school made its way to the opening ceremonies. He spent the rest of August 2009 chilling before the Tournament began. He played ball with a few of the guys and not quite having a good first impression with Ylva Maras. During a visit to Zonko's joke shop Peyton Wentworth became instantly smitten with him, although Mace tended to be oblivious to the guys and gals that had the hots for him. He was also good friends with Taryn Dickenson.
Mace was selected as one of the champions for the Second Task along with Louise Parker. They took Salem's early 2nd place lead to 4th for this Task, unfortunately, after encountering some trapped treasures loaned by a goblin for the WEALTH tunnel they navigated.
From the fall semester onwards, his 'automaton scarecrow' companion Cap'n Patches was frequently seen assisting him around the castle. Patches has been rebuilt several times, like when he was partially destroyed as Mace helped save Blossom Rose and Rico Posada from the Whomping Willow during the 2009 Halloween Ball. Mace also had several encounters with the Winged Monkeys that briefly inhabited the Forbidden Forest that year.

Milton is a self-employed transmuter (Transfiguration/Alchemy specialist) working in the United States. He's known for restoring medieval weaponry, among other commissions. He also occasionally tours as a saxophonist and yes, the puffs remain numerous (he'll gift them to fans).
