Short Bio: Kadyn Hamilton (NPC) works for the Department of International Magical Co-operation. He is a Head of the Magical Trading Standards Body, though his work often deviates from this core focus as required. Hamilton has a son attending Hogwarts, who graduated in summer 2009.

Kadyn is the Department's most irritating employee, as he goes out of his way to get on the nerves of his colleagues. He is an instant enemy to Johann Spectre from January 2009.

Hamilton has a son who graduated from Hogwarts in 2009, and joined the Department of International Magical Cooperation as an intern, but he is never glimpsed on page.

Other staff are also irritated by Hamilton, though the ongoing war between Hamilton and Johann is entertainment for some, but not their boss.

“It’s boring if you don’t ruffle a few feathers, and I have to have at least one scapegoat.” ... “My favourite is Hamilton, we crossed before I got the job, and someone gave him antlers the other day, so the feeling is clearly shared by another colleague. Driving me mad to find out who it was, because Hamilton, Gabrielle and the majority of the level think it was me.” Johann wrinkled his nose. “I admit, I made them bigger and escorted him to St Mungo’s for a good laugh, but potion isn’t my style.”

On March 13th 2009 Azize Mulogo spiked Hamilton's morning coffee with a potion that made him grow antlers. Johann Storm was suspected, but had only cast engorgio to increase their size after admiring them.

With the memory that the Friday before he had left, Johann and Hamilton had been summoned to Gabrielle's office to explain themselves, he ploughed on without a word, quill in hand, silent as a mouse.

By April 2009, Gabrielle Murray reprimands both Hamilton and Johann for the bickering.

"Borrow?" Johann asked, quill in hand, he tilted his head. "Its not really meant to go away for some time. However we do have a few..." His eyes had slid across the room to where his favourite scapegoat was having a noisy conversation with a female colleague who was not participating half as much.

"I'm sure there's a colleague only too happy to help us out." Johann smirked, "Even if he has no idea how or when it happens."

With a tap of his nose, Johann hopped up and feigned rifling in the cupboard again for something else, but instead lifted the box out under his elbow and signed the sheet neatly Kaydn Hamilton and signed. One of the first things he'd done after marking Hamilton as his enemy was to perfect forging the man's signature. So if Sasha damaged or didn't return the kit, it would be put down to his irritating colleague from the trading standards office.

In August 2009, Johann Storm signs out a Relation Elixir kit for Sasha Schlagenweit using Hamilton's name, to enable Sasha to test his blood relations with Ignan Storm. The kit was missing until late October.

On November 9th 2009 He was sent to the Salem Institute in Massachusetts to get the medical files of all the students who came to the Tournament after it was alleged the students could be infectious. (Part of A Pox on Salem)

Trotting across the office, Kaydn Hamilton, member of Trading Standards on Level 5, noticed Johann at his desk, but paid no attention. The two of them were pretty much sworn enemies, taking every opportunity to irritate or humiliate the other. Kaydn had returned to the office late, having forgotten his diary. He had the next two weeks off to go abroad and relax on his holidays, and had gone to the Leaky Cauldron after finishing work with some colleagues.

Turning around from retrieving the address book, he took another glance at Johann and saw the man appeared to be sleeping at his desk. What a laugh to wake the bugger up with a shock, Hamilton considered, a little merry from the beers. He tiptoed across the office until he was just behind Johann and proceeded to let off a very loud bang.

To his disappointment, Storm didn't stir. He dropped his arms and frowned, poking his colleague with the end of his wand.
"Oi, Storm." He called. It wasn't until he seized the other man's shoulders and nearly hauled him up off the surface of the desk that he realised anything was wrong. Johann, delirious and semi-unconscious, vomited fresh blood over Hamilton's suit.

... "Help, I think its poison." Hamilton hurriedly told the healers, having found the little bottle of headache remedy in Johann's fingertips, he thrust it into the hands of the attending healers. "I - I can't stay - he's Johann Storm, works for Level 5 at the Ministry - I found him like this.... I can't - really I can't..." With fear in his eyes, Hamilton turned on the spot, and disappeared in a panic.

Johann stared at his empty in-tray like he'd never seen it before. Actually, he hadn't. It had been bulging and busy ever since he'd been hired. Hamilton used to drop all manner of dead rats or other nasties in there between trading standards documents. Where was the arse, anyway? Johann afforded a glance in the direction of the team his thorn usually sat with, but saw his desk empty. It was then he noticed the postcard spellotaped to the intray. A muscular man in some sort of excuse for underwear on a beach.

Idiot was on holiday. Johann's shoulders drooped with relief. That was one less thing to think about. With luck it would all have been forgotten by the time Hamilton got back.

In late November 2009 he took two week's leave for a holiday, and on the eve of the holiday discovered Johann Storm had overdosed with sleeping potion, and delivered him to St Mungo's without leaving his name. He sent Johann a lewd postcard from abroad.

Johann was dead on his feet. His efforts not to touch sleeping potion were continuing, but this week he'd tried to lynch Hamilton at the office twice in an hour, and had hidden in the Ministry library for an hour in a dark corner trying to get his head together again.

"Want something, Storm?" Johann blinked and looked up into the face of Hamilton, who tended to pass his desk on purpose just for this purpose.

"What?"

At that very moment there was movement from the direction of the lifts, and he caught sight of Gabrielle returning. Hamilton looked over too, and withdrew from Johann's desk, knowing better than to continue his tirade when their Department Head was nearby.

By December 2009 Hamilton and Johann Storm antagonise each other on a daily basis, and Department Head, Gabrielle Murray is one of the few people who either of them will obey directions to stop from.

Hamilton was making his life a misery, and this week Johann was far more inclined to crawl under his own desk than take a leaf out of Azize's book and give the man antlers in retaliation. Gabrielle had intervened, given the man an ear-bashing instead.

In January 2009 Hamilton took great joy in commenting to the Daily Prophet anonymously about Hannah Bombay and Johann Storm's engagement. To avoid opening any other distasteful parcels from enemies, Johann suggests that he may use Hamilton to open them instead.

Between 2013 and 2018 Hamilton was promoted to Head of his team.
