The Watchful Mary is a small brass plaque in the shape of a gaunt or dead woman's face. The eyes and mouth are closed. It is enchanted to watch over a room and when it senses foul play it will speak words like, 'liar' or 'thief'.
It is relatively unsophisticated and cannot usually see through spells that could conceal someone's intentions or actions.
