The Sunken Scoundrels are a vampire coven in Manchester, UK. They run a small subterranean speakeasy in one of the abandoned tunnels beneath the city (WWII underground stations that never came to fruition).

With an intentionally 'spooky' but relaxed atmosphere, the Scoundrels welcome tolerant human patrons and those looking to be bitten. They are also welcoming of other beings looking for a place to unwind without being disturbed.

The Scoundrels are generally friendly to outsider vampires. They will help those in need and entertain vampiric guests.

History

The coven was founded in 1938 by its current leader, Zara Othman. Her right hand vampire, Josef Plath, joined her in the 1990s after he left continental Europe over a disagreement with his old coven. Zara is the public-facing, charming and friendly face of The Sunken Scoundrel. Josef is its threat manifest. He is an especially dangerous vampire - even among vampires.

In 1940, a newly turned Terrence Hooker took refuge with the Scoundrels when he was abandoned by the vampire who turned him. They taught Hooker how to control his urges and to live outside the law.

As of the legalisation of consensual vampire feedings in 2012, they are licensed and operate within the law. There are thirteen scoundrels altogether.

Practices

The Scoundrels advocate a very open and unabashed approach to consensual feeding.

Although they may have one or two private chambers for the purpose, most feeding takes place in a large tunnel where everyone is in full view of one another. This has occasionally led to a human being shared by two vampires.

The coven also keeps a human "pet" - this is an outdated vampiric practice, prevalent when vampires were more openly persecuted. A human wix lives on the premises and is intermittently fed on by any one of the coven members.

This arrangement is seen as mutually beneficial but it is frowned upon by most covens in this century for a variety of reasons. Many vampires, for example, do not like sharing. Others consider it a throwback to times of desperation and deprivation.
