Gibbon was one of Voldemort's Death Eaters who served in the First & Second Wizarding War. He cast the Dark Mark over Hogwarts during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. He was caught in the crossfire of a killing curse aimed at Remus Lupin and slain. [1]
At Absit Omen
Gibbon is the paternal uncle of Gloria Gibbon, her father Clarence's older brother. She never knew him and doesn't like when that black mark on her family history is brought up.
To prove his allegiance to Voldermort, Gibbon vanquished and stole a wand from a muggleborn relative. It is one of the 41 war wands recovered by Knox Greyfriar (see Plot:Embarrassment of Wands).
