Former Auror with the Ministry of Magic.
Her name is pronounced ah-LEE-th-ee-UH, though her nickname Allie is pronounced similar to "Ellie". It is a Greek name meaning "truth" or "truthful".
About
Alethea had Mordecai Hollingbury's strong-mindedness and bravery, and Lydia Hollingbury's skin and wavy hair. Otherwise, she was very much her own person - independent, confident, adventurous, boisterous and somewhat tomboyish in her younger years. She built more muscle than fat, and, although was somewhat disappointed in the chest area, eventually settled down with her more athletic figure. Unlike her brother Arcturus Hollingbury, she was more interesting in dressing smartly and very much loved uniforms because they gave her a sense of authority.
Hogwarts
She originally wanted to be in Ravenclaw like the rest of her family, but the Sorting Hat won with its decision of Gryffindor. She was laughed at when she showed a typical Ravenclaw dedication to her subjects, but then she very much proved herself through a knack for duelling and Quidditch and others left her alone. For two years she played Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, winning the admiration and hearts of many boys but never finding one herself.
Either way, she is remembered for standing out with her own flair and competitiveness, driven by confidence and perhaps a smidgen of bullheadedness. But most of all, she is remembered for giving up her life.
Auror Corps
She was one of the last candidates to qualify for the Auror Office in 1992. From when she became a fully fledged Auror in 1995 to 1997, she was considered an efficient Auror who knew how to manipulate and intimidate people to get what she wanted, developing a very goal-oriented mind but always keeping others in consideration. Some say that possibly if she'd gone down the wrong way, she might have been an incredibly powerful witch on Voldemort's side. And maybe there was that possibility, and maybe someone had tried to lead her down that path, but her mindfulness for other people as a priority kept her on her course.
Alethea was one to trust and rely on. She never shared any of the details of her job with her family, knowing that it could put them in danger. But she always had a smile for her family when she returned home after a hard day's work.
Death
On August 1st, 1997, the Death Eaters stormed the Ministry. Alethea's initial reaction was to go fight them, but then realised that the people who were trying to flee needed protection and so she went to help them discreetly. She met with her father momentarily and assured him she would be fine, and then vanished into the crowd.
Where they found her body remains undisclosed, but a colleague of Mordecai's brought the bad news. Her funeral was held in Acton Cemetery. To this day, her grave exists beside a few other graves, with enchantments that prevent Muggles from seeing them or even coming close to them, just past a certain tree in the cemetery. The epitaph on her stone reads:
Auror ~ Sister ~ Daughter
In memory of Alethea Lydia Hollingbury
July 26 1974 - August 1 1997
"She thought of others ever, herself never. We can't forget."
Her Wand
Alethea's wand was said to have been recovered by the Aurors, but for some reason it has never been returned to the family. Mordecai tried to find it for five years after her death, only to be finally told that the wand had gone missing. He gave up the search after that.
Even though the family has appeared to have written off the wand, her room exists untouched in their house. This is because as long as her wand is not returned to her body, she is believed to be "waiting" for it in the afterlife. Only when her wand is buried with her will they finally clear her room out. This is apparently a long-standing Hollingbury tradition. Her wand stand remains in the room, a reminder of the missing piece that rightfully belongs to her.
Arcturus is less convinced about the contrived coincidence of the loss of her wand, and believes her wand was taken by someone before the Aurors found her body. He is torn right now between searching for it and letting her go. He still keeps his graduation gift for her - a silver ring with a lion's head, a ruby set into the lion's forehead. If the wearer of the ring finds themselves in complete darkness, the ruby will warm up and give off light and heat.
While her wand remains missing, Mordecai continues to grieve for her and unable to move past failing to keep his family intact during the Second Wizarding War. Arcturus feels guilty because they got into a fight the day before she died (where he got his white hair from) and he never got the opportunity to apologise. He has refused to dye his hair as a reminder to never make the same mistake again.
