Figaro Sellaphix in an attempt to impress Hogwarts gang leader Devlin Matthews agrees to steal the test questions for an upcoming Transfiguration practical. Except things go wrong and Figaro ends up blaming the whole thing on a completely uninvolved Sasha Schlagenweit.
Figaro Sellaphix, under orders from Devlin Matthews, sneaks into the Transfiguration classroom and attempts to break into a locked drawer in order to steal the test questions for an upcoming Transfiguration practical. Other fifth years would pay well to see the transfigurations they'd be asked to do so they could prepare. However, Morrigan Ramsay discovers Figaro and grills him to find out what's going on. In a panic, he names Sasha Schlagenweit, rather than Devlin Matthews.
As Figaro is leaving Kendall Fleetfoot is arriving. He and Morrigan are secretly seeing each other. They talk of their past and a similar situation they were both in long ago.
"Sasha. Schlagentweit," he burped through his hands. But the words were out in the world. His stomach churned, but he also felt a great wave of relief. He'd just thrown his friend to a cerberus and he felt relief.Figaro Sellaphix
Morrigan Ramsay confronts the unsuspecting Sasha Schlagenweit who profusely proclaims his innocence. But in Morrigan's mind, Figaro's story made sense. Sasha is extremely studious and withdrawn, and generally does poorly at practical wandwork. Ramsay agrees not to inform Headmistress Snark or Sasha's parents, and that a string of detentions with her will serve as study sessions.
"They're lying!" Sasha insisted - or pleaded. "I swear! I wouldn't - I don't want to ... I know I struggle with the wandwork but - but I want to do well! Cheating wouldn't be my accomplishment! And, I certainly wouldn't lie about it! I wouldn't lie!"Sasha Schlagenweit
Isaac Fraiser and Morrigan Ramsay get into an argument about Morrigan's decision to punish Sasha Schlagenweit for cheating. In Isaac's opinion, Morrigan acted too hastily against Sasha, forgetting herself and her responsibility as a professor, even accusing of her of being too distracted with her affair with Kendall Fleetfoot to be doing her job well.

By the time the Hogwarts Express is on its way back to Scotland, Figaro Sellaphix and Sasha Schlagenweit haven't seen or heard from each other in over two months. But Sasha's heard plenty about the rumors it was Figaro who set him up, but Figaro feels too guilty to talk about it openly.
