A confused young man, Max is a sixth year Ravenclaw with an unhealthy obsession over ancient magic. Though nice and polite, he never thinks of striking up a casual conversation, but keeps his nose deep in books instead.

History

Maximus grew up in the outskirts of Chadford, in southern England with his mother Gwenora, his father Finn and his older brother Jameson. Max never saw much of his father - an eccentric man that spent most of his time abroad, trying to hunt down creatures people had only read about - and spent most of his time with his mother. He was always fascinated by how she spent the nights up on the hill next to her house, observing the stars and the moon, drawing on her charts and tinkering with her lunascope.

When Jamie played with the muggle kids down in the village, Max spent his days sunken in books, or trailing gnomes, or studying his mother’s wand movements. Anything he could to learn how the world worked. But it wasn’t until he found a book about old Welsh magic that his fascination begun. Anything he could get his hands on concerning magic from the Dark Ages and earlier triggered his interest.

He had been longing for the day he’d been going to Hogwarts ever since Jamie got sorted five years prior, and was as excited as he had ever been when it finally came. But he was disappointed. He had hoped for a school where he could dig deeper into what interested him, to spend countless nights in the library studying the works of Egyptian witches or Japanese Dragon-hunters. Instead, he was handed a schedule of too many classes to focus on and a strict lists of homeworks concerning subjects he had no interest in. It was hard, and it took almost two years for him to finally come to terms with the way Hogwarts taught (this made people question whether the Sorting Hat had been right in putting him in Ravenclaw).

Then came third year and he could finally choose electives. Without hesitation he marked Arithmancy and the Study of Ancient Runes down as his choices, and was excited once again. The physical subjects had never been his kind of thing - Potions and Herbology were his worst subjects, and Defence Against the Dark Arts had too many exploding spells and bangs involved.

Max never had many friends during his school years. Not that he actually noticed - the first two years was spent worrying too much about how to keep up with the schoolwork, and the years after he was focusing entirely on the subjects he loved.
