In 2017, an expedition of several wix traced the ancient magics of the Aztec and Mayans. An unrealized misfortune was an encounter with a secretive vampire coven operating in Latin America. Now, in 2018, a vengeful enforcer of the coven twists desires to satisfy both her objective and taste for blood.

Beginning in February and into the spring, Philo begins correspondence with reclusive apothecary Casiphia Hughes. Unaware that he's in communication with a vampire. Both being intellectual Ravenclaws at Hogwarts, Casiphia is thankful for the avenue of interaction. They learn a little bit about each other and even start a chess by mail game in April.
- Philo has been navigating some difficult, lacking memories tied to his encounters with Tayanna Ixcuina. Sections of his erased musings remain in some letters after March 26.

Philo, having spent a long time grappling with his attractions towards heavyset women, plucks up the courage to ask a women named Caitlin out on a date. Finding their interests in Edinburgh are intertwined, even though Caitlin is a muggle, the date turns out to not be a disaster. Up until a vampire feeds from Caitlin as Philo is revealed to become her unwitting thrall, after a chance encounter during the 2017 expedition. (CW: blood; attraction & fetishizing of larger bodies)
