One of the most ancient civilizations on the planet, Egypt is also likely one of the most recognizable to the modern wizard. Full of tradition and history, its rituals and practices date back to a different time - and a time before the secrecy.

Egyptian Magical Culture

Egypt may follow the M.O. of ancient Egypt; if they do this, their emphasis on tradition makes the English purebloods look like liberal reformers. While new inventions are certainly welcomed, the old ways are the best; they are to be followed with what is best described as religious devotion.

Egyptian wizards may be religious, as well, and some may worship the ancient gods, especially Isis. Others may follow more modern religions, such as Islam or the Coptic Church.

It is likely, if traditional wizarding culture follows the more ancient lines, that muggleborns and young halfblood families are a bit 'out of the loop' at first, until they are established. Modern muggle influences certainly play a part, however.

Egyptians have used wands for thousands of years. Their wands are made of bone, and carved with intricate images and hieroglyphs. They are curved, and some have a pointed end.

Muggles and Blood Status

Unlike the UK and Europe, Egypt never really experienced the mass persecution of wizards that their northern counterparts did. The society of Egypt was, in ancient times, one where muggles and wizards worked closely together, and wizards were (and in many cases, are) looked upon fondly. It's therefore unlikely that they have a society-wide hate/dislike for Muggles like the Europeans do.

If they follow the ancient ways, blood status is not exactly important; what is important is following tradition. Therefore, it's likely that a pureblood radical reformer would be looked upon with more dislike than a muggleborn.

Magical Schools

Egyptian wizards have been being trained at schools for thousands of years; they may have indeed been the first to do so. The Temples of ancient Egypt were its schools, hospitals and general social centers; therefore most of the traditional schools are still temples. The Ministry likely has a 'public' school for muggleborns, and many of the old clans run their own.

Families

Egypt has several very old families, who trace their lineage back to ancient times. These clans vary widely in their opinions on blood status, tradition and just about everything else. Many of them descend from priests, and continue their respective temple schools. They have a lot of influence on Egyptian politics and culture, and many get away with criminal activity out of tradition and power.
