Gargle
Gargle is the simplified name of a deck-building game with a long title in Gobbledegook. It was co-produced by the Goblin Liaison Office with assistance from the Department of Magical Games and Sports as an attempt to improve relationships with the goblins.
It was touted as "The Most Authentic Representation of the Goblin Market" (likely hyperbole) based on primers used to assist wix and non-humans sourced from several international banks. Thus, it was incredibly niche at Hogwarts Gaming Club.
2010 Edition
Players started with a scant number of resources in their starting deck. The goal was to accumulate the most victory titles by purchasing cards from the market, which could be refined treasures, sanctions against other players, or rights of ownership. Many synergies offered very different strategies to build your deck each game.
Knuts, Sickles & Galleons represented copper, silver and gold (although not at their usual ratios) but there was also platinum and a few kinds of gemstone as higher tier Wealth cards.
Philo Falkin used up quite a bit of his savings to by a copy, as he was taking Ancient Runes that year.[1]
2017 Edition
This implementation offered revised elements and almost twice the number of rules.
Finding synergies and refining wealth remain core mechanics but style of play has shifted to tableau management. Notable introductions include the "Auction Phase", where a lucky drafted 'Right of Ownership' for your guild (player) or by out bidding the other guilds would set you up for the rest of the game, as property management also became a factor.
The recurring "Stock Market Phase" could be extremely violate, as it responded to actions players had taken in the game, affecting everything from turn order to swings of Victory Titles to trigger the end of the game.
Gloria Gibbon was quite displeased to have her Gringotts monitored training with the game effectively restarted when the 2017 edition was released.
