Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany is in west-central Europe. Its capital and largest city is Berlin. Germany has a largely temperate seasonal climate. It is the most populous member state in the Muggle European Union. Germany is one of the major political and economic powers of the European continent and a historic leader in many theoretical and technical fields.

The Black Forest is located in southern Germany, which also contains the state of Bavaria. It is implied that Lord Voldemort murdered a family living here during 1997 for information about Gregorovitch.

Magical Culture

Witches and wizards born in Germany may attend Durmstrang or Beauxbatons for their education. Occasionally they attend Beit Gaddol or Hogwarts.

In 1950, the last sizable openly resisting cells of Grindelwald's forces had retreated to the Black Forest.

Frankfurt

One European wizarding bank, Chrysopoeia is based in Frankfurt. Frankfurt is also considered Germany's banking center in the Muggle world. The bank has branches across Northern Europe.

Hanover

There are a cluster of wizarding families in Hanover and the surrounding area. The Crescent Moon is a regular meeting point.

Heidelberg

Hosts the headquarters of European apothecary, Drammes Apotheke. Its history is interwoven with the University Hospital there. They operate a number of apothecaries in the country.

Rothenberg

Rothenburg is a walled city where automobile traffic occurs only for deliveries. In this city, wizards and muggles live side by side. Chaz Lawrence grew up here in a neighborhood where hardly any notice was taken of the differences because both wizards and muggles alike lived with traditional values.

Ignan Storm served as an auror for the Ministry. In the 1970s Misha Prinz's father of the same name worked for the Ministry.
