For a quick thinking boy, Lux often comes off as scatterbrained due to his obsession and fixation with shiny objects. Along with that, Lux is quite the magpie, holding a small collection of just about everything. Often he ends up taking things that aren't his to add to his hoarded treasure.
Personality Description
Lux is quite the interesting child. From a young age he has always been fixated with collecting shiny things; gold, silver, gems, the shinier the better. He tends to be very easily distracted, so much so that he will often think sunlight light reflecting of glass is some type of gem. Often he stops mid-sentence to chase one object or another. As such, regardless of his above average intelligence, people tend to think him a fool when he is in fact simply scatterbrained.
That said, Lux tends to be one of the quickest to comprehend a situation, often doing so so quickly he doesn't even fully realize it himself. This sometimes helps lead his image of being scatterbrained, as he will end up much further along upon a single problem than anyone else. This often gives the impression that he is on a completely different train of thought than those around him, one that often seems to make little to no sense.
While not the nicest person in the world, Lux tends to get along well with most others, regardless of is he likes them or not. To him everyone is a potential friend that can lead him to new precious items that he can steal. Some people would say that Lux simply uses others for his own ends. And that would be true for a good eighty to ninety percent of the people he knows. For the remaining percent, he can be considered quite charming. So long as you don't touch his horde.
For the most part, Lux has a fairly good sense of humor. The way he sees it, life is short, and you only live once so you may as well have some fun with it. When not in trouble for minor theft, he's usually in trouble for some other form of mischief.
History
When Lux was born, both his young parents were just beginning to become very successful and wealthy, finally coming of up with a clever plan to do so. Theft. While muggle currency may be considered worthless in the wizarding world, gold certainly was not and the young couple began a spree of world wide theft. Only ever hitting muggle banks, the use of magic made the robberies extremely easy, simply apparating into the vault, taking what they wanted, and apparating back out. As such, Little Lux grew up with stolen riches flowing into the house hold. Everything from precious metals to fine jewelry was seen by him in his early years. This is likely what influenced his magpie instincts as Lux grew fond of playing with the gems and jewelry his parents brought him from their latest heists. As soon as Lux could walk he also began stealing things from his parents for his own collection.
For the most part Lux's childhood existed without any major incident. His parents continued their crime spree upon the muggle world, fencing some of their stolen goods in Nocturne to make a quick galleon. By the time Lux was old enough to be sent to Hogwarts his parents had acquired almost a billion net worth of stolen items, to tally all the crimes they committed. Upon arrival to the school Lux was excited, though not for the same reasons as most other first years. While they were eager to learn magic and all its wonders, Lux was more interested in what he could lift without anyone noticing. Particularly small things that fit into his pocket.
Coming as no surprise to anyone, Lux was placed into Slytherin just like both of his parents. For the most part, Lux's first couple of years were fairly standard. He did decently in classes and, if not for the fact that he was in detention every other week for mischief, he'd probably be considered a pretty decent student. Unfortunately things for his parents had become more difficult, for the long arm of the law had finally begun to catch up to them. Over the summer before his third year both his parents were arrested and tried, via a tip-off from the Muggle Liaison Office. And thus began the unraveling of one of the most complex and immense crime sprees in wizarding history, at times unbelievable to perpetrated by only two people. At first both were slated for three years in Azkaban for using magic to rob a muggle bank. However, Lux's mother was able to cut a deal for her freedom and his father took the fall. As such, she managed to avoid prison while her husband was sentenced to five years for multiple counts of grand theft in the United Kingdom. The ones that were known of! Since then, the sentence of Mr. Argentum has extended, appealed, and counter-appealed into a cycle of legalese limbo as more of the Argentums' possible crimes are brought forth and the lengthy procedures to attempt to charge Mr. Argentum with all of them. And that was before international indictments from foreign ministries started coming in. The investigation continues to get bigger.
For the rest of the family life has returned, as close as it could, to being back to normal. Lux's mother had to stop thieving, of course, and has spent the last few years living under the watchful eye of law enforcement. Lux, meanwhile, has kept his head down in school, keeping his mischief and thieving much more subtle than before.
When Lux entered his third year, all the electives seemed terrible to him. In the end, he only chose Divination and Ancient Runes thinking they may come in handy later on in his life when it came to finding and acquiring new items. Now in his fourth year, Lux hardly cares about the tournament at all aside from the potential possibility to get his hands on some new objects of interest.
