Lyle is Dean Matthews Identical twin and Devlin Matthews and Lucy Matthews brother.
Dean and Lyle are the trouble making, somewhat stupid, twin jocks of the family. They enjoy playing pranks, eating really weird foods and playing football. Because of how close in age they are to Devlin, the three of them have shared a room their entire lives and the two were Devlin's lackeys for the entirety of the time he was with his family. When Devlin was revealed to be a wizard, they were confused and a bit hurt, but still forgave Devlin and waited eagerly for his return home during Holiday.
When Devlin found out he was Knox Greyfriars son and left to live with them, the twins took it quite hard. They seemed to start getting into bigger trouble and were finally expelled during their final year at school. The two decided that instead of trying to get into Uni, they would work instead, especially with Luke leaving to care for his family. They were working at a greengrocers the last time Devlin saw them.

At Absit Omen
- When explaining to Sophie Flickwick about how he and his siblings dealt with his mothers death in this thread, Devlin said that Dean and Lyle got in with a bad crowd and caused trouble. He claims they grew out of it, but latter events seem to show they have not.
- In this letter to Devlin, Lucy states that the reason the twins were expelled was because they set their headmasters wig on fire.

- In the above thread, both Dean and Lyle are surprised and subdued by Devlin's outburst of anger, showing that it is rare for Devlin to get mad at them.
- According to Lucy, Dean and Lyle tend to be wishy washy when it comes to promises. She recalls that when they say 'later' they usually mean never, unless they are mad at their father.
- In this thread, Lyle and Dean are seen antagonizing Lucy by stealing her freshly washed bowls. Dean then picks her up and hangs her upside down to tease her, until she punches him in the groin.
