Mahseh
Spell Name: Encompassing Shield
Incantation: Mahseh
Pronunciation: maw-SEH
Spell Branch: Charms
Magical Discipline(s): Defensive
Appearance: Shimmer of the air during pronunciation; otherwise invisible
Description: Creates a hard magical barrier around the caster (not merely in front of the caster), which absorbs hexes or curses directed at caster. With difficulty, it can be extended to other individuals by close proximity--best if the individuals are touching and better still of intentional physical contact is made. The most common form is hand-holding. Spells of nomination--naming the individuals in proximity to be protected--can also be added.
Specialized/obscure education; the spell can be cast at many levels, but is truly effective at the Master level. Cannot be extended to other individuals unless at Master level.
Regulations: Specialised
Skill Level: Advanced
Etymology: from the Hebrew verb, "hasa", to seek protection. Therefore, translated, it means roughly, refuge.

Notes:
Appeals to G-d, "Elimahseh," or "Mahseh, shaddon/eliyon/elohim," are also common among more traditional casters. Because of the complexity and multi-layered performance of this incantation, it is largely thought to be more trouble than it is worth. However, the result, if practised by a master, is one of the strongest shields.
