A former Slytherin, Najwa is smart and cunning. At school, she was known as a talented member of the Hogwarts Dueling Club, and was known to be able to give as good as she got during duels. After graduating, she joined the Werewolf Capture Unit on an angry whim after getting frustrated with her parents, who insisted she needed to either marry or find a job to support herself. She's since proven to be a good tracker, as well as talented with her wand.
Her family, the Shafiqs, have a long history of supporting blood rights and marrying purebloods. In the 1930s, they were included in the Pure-Blood Directory as one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, a group of British magical families who were still truly pure-blood.
Although Najwa will outwardly say she doesn't believe in purism, she is still a little uneasy sometimes around the Muggleborn members of the Werewolf Capture Unit. She has grown very close to Max Janssen, although the Dutch wix's lack of a pureblood family has kept her from being open about considering a real relationship.
