Parisad
The Parisad is the magical governing body of the nations Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. It is also known as the Assembly. Their HQ is located on a warded island in the South China Sea and consists of several structures both onshore as well as on the sea. The island is known for its natural beauty and harmony with nature.
A prototype version of the Parisad was in effect during the final decades of British and European colonial activity in South East Asia.
Nation Branches
Each of the nations has its own branch with direct lines and transport to HQ. Each branch is led by a Minister who reports back and is held accountable to the Parisad. Due to their size, Indonesia has four branches whereas Malaysia has separate branches for east and west Malaysia.
The Assembly itself is led by these Ministers as well as three elder representatives from Kuliah Subi. They form the Sābha or the Council. Every three years there is a vote held among them to elect a Tokoh who will lead the Sabha.
Law Enforcement
Due to the historic and unregulated severity of Dark Magic in the region, the Parisad is known to be extremely harsh against those who illegally wield such powers.
The Panglima Dharma is the Parisad equivalent of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and their Aurors are called Ksatra (self-pluralising). Ksatra themselves must learn aspects of Dark Magic as part of their training.
Other Departments
In addition to law enforcement, the Parisad also have separate departments for Botany, Creatures, Sports, Accidents/Catastrophes, Weather, and so on.
Kuliah Subi
The regional school, Kuliah Subi plays a large role in the Parisad. Most Ministers and leaders are graduates of Subi. The three Subi elders of the Sābha are intended to be tie-breakers as well as impartial representatives of the magical community.
While one or two of the elders have fallen under corruption scandals in the past, there is usually one honest wix standing. Some wixes believe that there should be five Subi elders in the Sābha.
