Are you alive? Dead? Doesn't matter, Lorelei will make you miserable.

Lorelei has been killing people and turning their souls into Pentrals since the 1980s. In 1989, she even killed her brother's fiancé, Iona McBoid, and used her as a disguise to infiltrate the manor of squib heiress, Lori Lilly. She then killed Lori, and used her identity for the next few decades. Her brother Leander used a Pentral as well, and trapped a herd of unicorns for their life-giving blood.

A few years ago, the Hunt siblings adopted a squib, Calix, and lured squib Abigail Reid to the house, plotting to create new identities. But Abby unleashed all the pentrals and escaped with Iona McBoid's pentral, forcing Lorelei to flee the manor.

Lorelei retreated to her hideout at the farmhouse of one of her earlier victims - Lucy Wold. At the farm, she kidnapped and killed a Healer to save her brother from the dementor attack he'd suffered.

Since her brother's recovery, she's made allies with Cinaid Tawse and Aviad Cohen. Of course, she has not forgotten about the Reids or the McBoids. She considers the gifts she sent on Valentine's Day to be the first of many.

Since the McBoid family posted Iona McBoid's obituary in late December, Lorelei has been keeping an eye on Iona's gravesite. Duncan pays his respects on the first of the new year. Lorelei pretends to be related to Iona, but it doesn't take long for Duncan to see through her lies. They duel, injuring each other. Lorelei scorches the tree. Duncan cleans up the gravesite and does not report the attack to the authorities.

List of spells used:

Confringo - Duncan casted the blasting curse at Lorelei, which missed and hit the ground. Lorelei later casted Confringo at the tree near the grave, engulfing the tree in flames.

Effodio - Duncan casted the (illegal) curse at Lorelei, causing a gash on her shoulder. Appearance: A brilliant purple lightning bolt.

Quaerite Vulnere - Duncan casted at Lore, seeking to make the wound worse. Missed.

Ossa ruptor - Lorelei casted at Duncan, breaking bones in his hand.

Deprimo - Lorelei casted Deprimo at the ground beneath Duncan, causing a hole in the earth (which Duncan later cleaned up). Appearance: green light

Auror Trevelyan visits Hogwarts to tell Wesley Wold that his mother, Lucy, had been killed four years ago and turned into a pentral. She was also the pentral who had saved Wesley during the dementor attack at the train station in December. Jonas and the Headmaster are kind and patient as Wesley struggles to believe it, and they listen when he tells them that he 'dreamed' about his mother after the train station incident. It was no dream, but it encourages Jonas to look into the farmhouse where the Wolds used to live.
Mother cannot guide you, now you're on your own

"Most of the pentrals don't seem to remember very much of their lives or who they were before they died," he told Wesley, his forehead creasing. "When the lake house burned down, many of them fled and took shelter inside wixes, like you might have read about in the Prophet. The pentral that used to be your mother had hidden inside someone who was at the train station that day. It doesn't seem as if she remembered all of who she was before that moment, but when she saw the Dementor and that you were in trouble --"

The Auror paused, pressing his mouth carefully shut.

Nate Briggs warns Lorelei Hunt that Bagnold knows about the unicorn blood trade from November. Irritated with his face and his attitude and who knows what else, Lorelei hexes Nate and Nate splinches his finger trying to get away from her.

Lorelei pokes around Grimshaw's to discover how someone could have overheard Nate Briggs sell the unicorn blood to her. The shop attacks, and Lorelei steals a skull from the ossuary before fleeing.
The Skull

Lorelei took a skull, large in her hand, holding it by the eyeholes, its yellowed bone chalky like the skin dust that had drifted from her palm. She floated up, out of the shop. She'd return when she had one less pentral. She'd return with her brother or Av-i-ad. The light didn't want her, but she had her cloak, her borrowed body, her shielded mind, her pentral, her false face, everything she needed to find the light and trap it.

Via owl, Lorelei sends a box of poisoned chocolates to the home of Virgil Carstairs. Virgil doesn't realize what he may have received until he meets for lunch with Abby Reid the next day.
For the Diviner

Stuck to the inside of the lid is a note that reads: For the Diviner Tucked beneath the tray of chocolates is a pressed Valerian flower.

Via memo, Lorelei sends a box of poisoned chocolates to the desk of Fauna Blake on Level Two of the Ministry. Talisha Crowe steals a chocolate, much to her great regret. Later that day, Level Two sends out a memo to the Department Heads on other Levels informing them of a security breach.
For The Darling

Stuck to the inside of the lid is a note that reads: For the Darling Tucked beneath the tray of chocolates is a pressed red rose.

Via memo, Lorelei sends a box of poisoned chocolates to the desk of Kurby Bagnold on Level Four of the Ministry. Kurby Bagnold shoves the box in a desk drawer and doesn't realize what he may have received until Harper Graves mentions the chocolates incident on Level Two.
For the Defender

Stuck to the inside of the lid is a note that reads: For the Defender Tucked beneath the tray of chocolates is a pressed Mullein flower with a silvery, fuzzy leaf.

Lorelei pays another visit to Iona McBoid's grave. This time, she brings a skull that she stole from Grimshaw's ossuary (thread yet to be written) and a bouquet of asphodel flowers. She arranges the flowers around the skull at the base of Iona's gravestone. Lorelei casts a simple concealing charm to hide the gift from muggle eyes. She uses no other magic on the grave. As a parting gift, Lorelei pours a vial of poison down the trunk of the burnt tree.
For the Dedicated, the Dutiful

A raven croaks in the distance. The witch's shoulders twitch, and she gives a shake of her head, reaching into her cloak. She draws out a round, pitted object as pale as her hand emerging from her sleeve.

She holds it up to the fading daylight.

Lorelei checks in as a guest at the Wold inn. Wyatt Wold tells her that his older brother, Wesley, visited back in January, and that Auror Trevelyan has been keeping up with the family. Lorelei takes a red cape from Wyatt, and leaves a gift behind.

"Are you sad about your mum?" Lore softened her voice, folding the cape into a tight roll.

"Yeah?" Wyatt looked confused, unsure of the expected answer.

"Which one?"

"What?"

"Which one are you sad about, Wyatt? Your dead mum, or your dying one?"Lorelei Hunt

Lorelei owls Kurby Bagnold another gift, this time to his flat, and this time it's Nate Brigg's splinched finger. She helpfully includes a photo of Nate and hints at his alias, Hermes. Kurby does not appreciate it, and sets off to find Nate.
The Messenger

What the hell was Hermes? Brows knitting, he turned the note over, but there was nothing written on the other side. And sends his regards...? That sounded like something out of the stupid Winter Thrones thing, the annoying Muggle whatever-it-was that Charlie Harris kept sounding off about nonstop. In fact, Kurby was nearly certain that it was from Winter Thrones, because the normally-quiet Sasaki had gotten vocally upset and started punching Harris in the arm the last time he'd started on about it, saying something about Harris making things go bad and spoil.

Who the hell would send him a photo of Nate Briggs and reference Muggle pop culture?

There was a sinking feeling in his stomach, but there was also no way he wasn't going to go through with this. Working quickly and meticulously, Kurby unwrapped the package, taking care not to tear the brown paper. Then, carefully, he eased it open.
