Now most people would have probably recoiled at what Storm got out to show his acquaintance when they realised what it was. Elliot’s lips simply pursed in mild disapproval, eying the limb warily. The smell was highly unpleasant to Miranda’s sense yet she reached forward, thin fingers enclosing the wrist of the dead limb. “This would definitely set off the vomiting reflex in multiple students.” She turned the limb over, nose screwed up. It had been a while since the professor had encountered such a smell. “Yet I fear you’ve had this slightly too long, Storm. Us in the healing profession tend to have a preference for fairly fresh cadaverous limbs, no matter how well preserved…”Miranda Storm

"What about this man?" He asked, though the action was pretty much set before he uttered the question, and he leaned down, his lips reaching hers, and his left arm encircling her slender waist to allow for them to draw together further in the dark.Ignan Storm

"Now, you must promise me you'll let me know when I can visit you when you're down in London, otherwise I might have to cut the legs off a couple of third years to cause an excuse to accompany them to St Mungo's and find you. But you'd like that, wouldn't you?" He asked, smirking as he drew them close, enjoying the feeling of her pressed against him, and her scent.Ignan Storm
He mirrored her smile, and raised his glass to meet hers.
"The proof of the pie is in the eating."
The walk to the chip shop thankfully was not a long one, though Ignan could not recall feeling so mortified in quite a long time. The pie might have looked impressive, had unfortunately seen the best part of the salt somehow during its creation. It was beyond him how it had happened, and it was unlikely the elf had sabotaged it later. It didn't take it well when he had explained they would find food elsewhere, but at least they'd be out of the house for however it chose to tell itself off.Ignan Storm

"Fifty galleons." Before turning gently over his shoulder to look back where Mira was. The least he could do would be to bid to get her out of this mess - much as he would find it amusing to see a friend in this situation, he was quite sure that any charity-stipulated day away from the office would be best spent with him.Ignan Storm
“Petrificus Totalus!” This time there was a crack and Miranda’s wand pulled its tip north, a light shooting from it and into the ceiling where it bounced off and into a cushion back on the sofa. This exploded and Miranda’s lips pursed in irritation as feathers floated in the air beside Ignan.Miranda Storm

“It’s a keepsake.” She twisted the small vial between her index finger and thumb, watching Ignan carefully. This was the reason she’d come to the castle tonight. Making this wizard jealous was wonderfully simple and she so wanted to see the sparks fly from his wand when he found out what Glass had wanted today.Miranda Storm
"Your mother doesn't consider you an embarrassment. She seemingly reserves that title for me if she didn't tell you I was coming." His eyes slid to Mira with a knowing smirk.Ignan Storm
"Though we make a better team, you and I. Let's not make a habit out of crisis." He kissed her gently, and then again a little more, realising how much he missed her.Ignan Storm
“It turns out Artemis Bug has had rather a change of heart.” The chill in the air caused goose bumps to form on Mira’s skin but she was watching Ignan too intently to appear concerned. “My daughter is beside herself.”
Her fingers gave his hand a squeeze.

“Tell me, wise one,” An eyebrow rose as the witch strained her neck to look him dead in the eye at such close proximity. “Would you sleep if your job was on the line and your school at risk of being blown up?” It was immediately after she said this that Miranda’s lips twisted into a smirk and she shook her head. “Like a baby, no doubt. You’re not the biggest fan of children.”Miranda Storm
"Well, it's been a pleasure," Ignan spoke after an awkward pause of being told off by practically his mother-in-law. "I should really go." Jacob continued to stare at Ignan. Then it began to sink in.
"Boyfriend?" "I prefer partner." Eyes scanned the white hair, the wrinkles and Jacob scowled.
“I bet you do.”
"Do I look twenty?" The croak was odd, but recognisable, and despite his stern features, a genuine, happy smile broke out across the Deputy Headmaster's face as both hands clasped her right hand. "Of course you do." He replied with a hint of a relieved laugh in his tone. As she launched herself over the edge of the bed away from him, towards Cassidy he released her hand instinctively to let her do as she needed. As long as it wasn't bright blue and glowing as Camille had mentioned Johann's had been, he would still celebrate.Ignan Storm

"Miranda." He spoke, commanding her attention without too much force, hoping he did not sound a little nervous as he made eye contact. "I love you." His hands were busy before his cloak as he organised cold fingers beneath gloves, but his gaze did not falter, even when he offered up the ring that had been secreted inside his cloak. "Will you marry me?"Ignan Storm

“I have Lil Snigger’s address for you. I’m not condoning whatever you do with it.”Miranda Storm
“I’m impressed, Johann. He’s not weedy or warty like your cousin suggested.” She moved across the room to rest on the arm of Ignan’s chair and glanced down at him with a smirk. “That’s five galleons you owe me, old man. Or wait,” Balfour was once more eyed, somewhat like prey. “Do you have any rashes in unusual places? He’s got a galleon on your armpits. I’ve got one on you having a tattoo on your left butt cheek.”Miranda Storm

The most important thing is that you haven’t just married my mum and that’s it. She may not have been the best mother in the world when I was growing up but she’s actually making an effort with her granddaughter. Therefore, while you have become a husband to a woman obsessed with work, you’ve also become a grandfather to the most important thing in my life. This little girl, like me, no longer has a father; that means she will probably look up to the closest thing. You.Maya Elliot
"Marrying your mother won't change the time she spends with you or Katrine. It's not my place to get between that. You don't have to like me, and you wouldn't be alone in doing so, but I don't have reason to pick a bone with you, Maya." He shrugged ever so slightly, "Miranda doesn't know you have written to me, and I won't tell her unless you're happy for me to let her know."Ignan Storm
The door was pulled open and the harassed and distressed looking witch addressed the aurors. “Lawrence Musgrave,” she spoke quietly. “You’re five minutes too late.” But she stepped aside to allow them entry.Miranda Storm
“I really like it, Ignan. It’s perfect and close to here so we can actually live together. It’s empty so we wouldn’t have to wait…” The witch took a breath and moved closer to her husband. “We’ll talk about it in a few days when your mind hopefully isn’t as occupied.”Miranda Storm

“Is that how you remember yourself?” He asked, genuinely curious.
Professor Miranda Elliot was dressed in a slim black dress covered in a black robe with practically black hair scraped back tightly into a long ponytail. She looked severe as she came into the staffroom, ridiculously high stilettoes clicking on the stone floor.
“How else would I remember myself?” Mira asked Ignan just as her former self rounded on the caretaker.
“Seriously? Some wiry haired fool over your own flesh and blood? Fuck that Miranda.” Brother barged past another, Ignan remained exactly where he was, apart from the subtle movement of his hand to his wand, resulting in Alec falling over his own feet through the kitchen doorway into the living room. Ignan turned to look back, feigning surprise at the incident, his wand safely back in his pocket. He’d done that more than a dozen times to students too big for their boots, taking them down a peg or two to raucous laughter from their classmates puncturing their egos. He taught them how to do the same, though.
“I think you’ll find she does.” Ignan suggested with a somewhat arrogant shrug, oxfords stepping past Alec as nimbly as he could to find the front door. “Mind you don’t fall over the doorstep too…” Definitely father’s son this one.
He glanced up to Miranda as he turned back to watch Alec pick himself up. Was he enjoying this just a little too much? Yes. Guilty as charged.Ignan Storm
“I thought I could handle him.” Still shaking hands put her mug down and she started to fumble on the coffee table with a packet of cigarettes and her wand. “He wasn’t going to hurt me, Ignan.” She frowned, realising how stupid that now sounded.Miranda Storm
“It’s much politer to knock on a door than stalk around someone’s garden.” Ignan wouldn’t be long. She could do this. She could get what she and the aurors needed. “Well come on.” Turning on her heel, Miranda quickly walked back into the house, leaving the door open for Musgrave. She flicked her wand at the kettle on the stove and the ring beneath it lit up to boil the water.Miranda Storm

“You need to promise me three things.” Ignan spoke again, looking up, less forceful in his stare this time, but still with enough gravitas to indicate how he really meant this, “Firstly, you keep that healer’s badge with you at all times, because half an hour’s delay is better than no help at all, and secondly, that you do not let anyone over the house boundary without confirming they are who they say they are- and then never ever Lawrence Musgrave.”
He paused, and perhaps that felt like three things already, but his gaze dropped a moment to Miranda’s hands and her parcel of fish and chips.
“And that you never ask me to kill anyone again.”Ignan Storm
“I didn’t get an owl last night.” The healer once more insisted, her temper flared as her head hurt more.
Ignan frowned and pinched the bridge of his nose. Miranda was reminding him far too much of a student who maintained they hadn’t done something he’d seen them do with his own eyes.
“My love,” he addressed Mira, a phrase he only tended to use when exasperated and really wanted her to understand, "you did. A barn owl with a short note at about ten. You left the house of your own accord after it. In that cloak.” He pointed to the one hanging. “I’ve slept alone in our bed and asked Gerda to check if you were at work, and well, here you are.” He lowered his hand and put his hand to her foot, before pulling up the blanket. “And you went to sleep on your office sofa in your boots.” He gestured with both hands to Miranda’s feet beside him.Ignan Storm

Beside the fireplace, Miranda’s wand was trailing over her husband’s chest, sensing for the internal damage they must have missed upstairs. His heart was slow, painfully slow compared to hers beating faster than a bludger covered in energy potion. His breathing had almost stopped. He was dying in front of her. “D-don’t you dare die on me o-old man.” Tears were filling her eyes, hands shaking as she grabbed his hand, squeezing. “You can’t die.”Miranda Storm
“Don’t tell me she’s working while you’re in here dying…” The wizard mumbled, disbelievingly. “She’ll never change.”Alexander Carter

“He has your eyes.” The statement was matter of fact, cool. Stood at the foot of the bed, Miranda folded her arms, covering the dragon tattoo snaking around her side and stomach. “He showed up uninvited with a fucking bonsai tree and a rake. These ridiculous ideas and plans he was sprouting off with about a future he was ruining for himself and you just supported him like some blithering idiot that wanted desperately for someone to like him. That’s not my husband.”Miranda Storm

Eyes widened and she looked at Ignan.
“I have to go.”
“What, now?!” Ignan replied, as Katrine succeeded in claiming her throne, muddy hands reaching for the end of the letter, scrabbling at the table with plucky persistence. “Can’t you ignore it?” Of course she couldn’t, but it really picked its times. “Your granddaughter’s here, and she’s… filthy.” Ignan sighed, realising his protests fell on deaf ears. He was facing the inevitable, daunting prospect that in minutes he’d be the only adult in the house with a not-yet-two year old. “Don’t do this to m -us,” he implored.
For a rare moment, Miranda actually looked apologetic as her eyes danced between her excited and extremely muddy granddaughter and the husband who was most definitely not used to little children. “It’s only mud. Give her a bath.” Stepping over, in turn spreading more mud through the kitchen, Miranda reached over, a hand on Katrine’s head as she leaned down and kissed Ignan, a apology of sorts. “I love you, Grandpa.”
“Love you too, Mormor.” Ignan replied, through gritted teeth.
