Tekla used to be a known name amongst the Dark side of the Swedish wizarding community, but after she was sent to prison, she decided to leave the country, and live on the run. After many years of travelling around Europe (mostly by foot) she has now ended up in London, and is fully committed to making it her new home.
Physical Description
Tekla is of average height, with light skin that has wrinkled over the years. Her face is quite square, with thin lips, a pointed nose and a heavy pointed chin. When she smiles some people might even say she looks kind, but there is always a sort of malevolence behind her moss green eyes. Her voice is deep and raspy, as if she’s smoked all of her life.
Her hair is brown and shoulder length, with streaks of grey and red throughout, making it seem almost like fur. Some would call her appearance fox-like, and they wouldn’t be wrong. Around people her stance seems to almost always be that of someone on high alert, and her eyes keeps darting around, taking in everything around her.
She always wears tortoiseshell glasses to make up for her poor eyesight, and sometimes (but not very often) a pair of simple earrings. When it comes to robes she likes them in dark, earthy colours such as brown, deep red, black, and dark green.
Personality Description
Tekla is a clever woman, though not in a way the way of scholars. She is street smart, and after the years spent on the darker side of the law, she knows how to get around. She never shows fear, because showing any kind of weakness might give whomever she with the upper hand. She is confident, and strong willed, and knows how to play her words right to get what she wants. Because of this she can almost sound arrogant at times.
Even though she almost married a Death Eater, she holds no thoughts on blood purity. His father was a pure-blood, and he was the most vile person she’s ever met. On the other hand, she would never voice her opinions, and would even more than happily lie about them if it came to that.
When she gets angry, it is like hell has no fury. This rarely happens, as she is quite good at keeping her cool, but when it does whomever is on the receiving end might consider running away. Tekla herself hates when she gets angry, as she loses all control of her actions and emotions. She has to be in control, at all times. This is why there are very few people in her life that has actually truly known her and her deepest fears.
History
Tekla didn’t have the happiest of childhoods. Her father, a wizard named Ola Glimstedt, was an angry man who took to the bottle a little too often. He often screamed at both Tekla, her younger sister Rakel, and their mother, a Muggle woman named Anna. Tekla assumed that they had once married for love, but all she heard day in and day out was how incompetent her mother was for not knowing magic. The family grew up in a small cottage in the woods, just outside of Våmhus, Sweden, and the two sisters rarely spent any time with other kids.
So when Tekla finally got her acceptance letter to Durmstrang, all she felt was relief. She was finally escaping the hell that was her home. Unfortunately, Durmstrang turned out to just be another version of it. She did end up in Zufrieden, but she was scraping by throughout her school years. It wasn’t that she was stupid, or bad at the subjects, it had more to do with the discipline. Tekla constantly got into fight, and one time she was almost suspended when she went in a little too hard in the duelling club against a girl she had been fighting with since day one.
Upon graduation Tekla was unsure what to do. She did not want to go home to her father, after her mother had passed away two years prior, and instead decided to travel to the capital. Stockholm turned out to be harder than she had expected, and with little money in her pocket she became a barmaid in the disreputable wizard-pub Sotpackan. She hated it, but it was also here where she ended up mingling with the underground world of Sweden’s wizarding community.
With the start of the first Wizarding War Tekla went even further underground. She cut all communications with her sister and her father, and started dealing with people she probably shouldn’t have. She did everything; passing intel between different parties; smuggling banned goods between countries; stalking out potential spies. But it was one thing that always kept her grounded - she made sure to never pick a side. She got the questions, yes. Many times in fact, to join the Dark Side, but she always answered with a grin and a shake of her head.
But, in 1981, when the Dark Lord was vanquished and the wizarding world went into a purge to put everyone responsible to justice, Tekla was caught by Swedish aurors as she was trying to cross the border into Finland officials. She was convicted on multiple accounts and was sent to the Scandinavian wizarding prison Gnipahule. There, in the Norwegian mountains, in the middle of Norwegian Ridgeback territory, she was locked down inside the cave system that is the prison, and didn’t see daylight for a decennium. Tekla looks back at it as the worst years of her life.
When she finally got out, the prison had changed her. It had not done what the officials had hoped the prison would do, and Tekla hated the establishment even more. Staying in Norway, and taking on a new name, she quickly made herself known within the dark circles in the new country. That’s also where she met Tjatse Rolvsson, and fell in love. Tjatse, an avid follower of Voldemort, was trying to take the Dark Lords philosophies over to Norway during the second Wizarding War, and was quite successful at getting a big following to join.
During one of their missions, the one where they were planning breaking into a Ministry official’s house and extracting secrets, the Norwegian aurors somehow had found out about their plan, and was waiting for them when they arrived. The battle was intense, and hexes and curses were flying from both sides. Tekla’s curses were nonlethal, as she had never passed that line of actually killing someone. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a hex hit Tjatse in the chest, and he instantly fell lifeless to the ground. A hatred more fierce than she had ever felt filled Tekla’s vision, and within seconds unforgivable curses were flying out of her mouth. Three aurors got killed, and Tekla apparated out of there.
For the next years she travelled around Europe, keeping her head love, growing her hatred for aurors and Ministries. She made small businesses wherever she was, but moved on when she got too known. Finally she ended up in Britain, and settled down in London. Here, no one knew her. Her she could start over, and build her new ring of “friends”.
Criminal Record
During her life Tekla has done all and everything criminal, bar murdering for money. She has traded illegal potions, plants and animal parts; she has passed intel between Dark wizards; she has sold information she's overheard; and she's spied on people for money. Her ambition has always been to be known as the one to go to for any problem.
She was convicted on all accounts after the fall of Voldemort in 1981, and spent the next ten years in a Scandinavian wizarding prison. After getting out, she made a new name for herself in Norway, where she also fell in love with a Norwegian wizard who was an avid follower of Voldemort. It was during a battle between her side and aurors that the wizard she was in love with died, and Tekla murdered three aurors in an angry frenzy. Afterwards she fled, and has since never returned to Scandinavia, and has therefore never been convicted for the only time she has ever killed.
As Tekla sees London as a new candy store, filled with possibilities of building and underground empire, she could commit almost any crime - bar from murder. You want to smuggle some unicorn blood out of the country?
Of course. You want to make sure no-one ever finds that dark artefact you're hiding in the basement? She'll get right on it. You need the Ministry infiltrated? Yes, sure, she'll figure it out somehow.
