Biography
Sly

A shy, softhearted kid who nevertheless appears more confident than he actually is, Micah is most comfortable among close friends and family. Despite a childhood curse that has left him more emotionally fragile than most, he works very, very hard to be a good friend and a dependable older brother.

Physical Effects

• Partial deformity. In patches his skin immediately rots and shrivels– even hanging off from the jut of his bones by strings, puckered and white like a burn. What flesh can be seen looks dry, and upon closer inspection his gums appear spotty. Some teeth become yellow and crooked, like an old skull.

Mostly an an emotional reaction, Micah can tap into it when he chooses and can’t when he’s especially upset; then, it happens on its own.

As it is, he is afraid of doing so, and for good reason: it’s a corruptive influence. Under it he becomes cruel and violent, and only worsens over time. It eats away at his sense of self, making it difficult to come back from.

It has its perks, but they aren’t much. Micah can wandlessly accelerate plant growth, but only in small amounts; anything larger is more likely to knock him out. The Dark magic of the curse makes him sensitive to the presence of other Dark creatures, especially hags, as well as large quantities of pain and fear. Inversely, normal creatures can be scared away.

Relationships

Crippling shyness and anxiety have may keep Micah from taking the initiative, but not from being helpful or sincere. Though they are few he actually considers a friend, he is generally well liked by his classmates, if somewhat forgotten. He is good friends with Zel Trumble and Gracie Slant, and best friends with Ji-Hyun Jeun and Valerie Crowe.

Family

He is close with his younger sister Lianne, and has a somewhat strained relationship with his mother.

Plots

Sometime in May 2010, Micah began hanging out with housemate Verity Bell, who quickly developed a crush. At Ji-Hyun’s encouragement, she confessed her feelings during over the summer. But Micah didn’t return them. Out of misguided respect (and not a small amount of guilt), he began avoiding her. Her drunken episode at Gracie’s party... didn’t help.[1]

Mischief Unmanaged

On February 12, 2011, he and thirteen other students were kidnapped by Lawrence Musgrave on Ira Almasy’s orders. They were taken to the Department of Mysteries, where they were experimented on by the likes of Mortimer and Lyra Gamp. Four students died in the process.[2]

Two days later, the both groups regained consciousness, but not together. Micah found himself with Ji-Hyun, Juni Zamperia, Zia Piselli and Indica Kemp.[3]
