The original title of the song has been lost and is known now as the Pentral Song, a 1500s magical verse warning of Dementors and Pentrals. It is very obscure as knowledge of Pentrals had faded into superstition until 2011.

According to Lazarus Blackburn, the song was included in a pre-Statute of Secrecy book he found in the York Minster [1]. Natalie Morrow recalls snatches of the song but she doesn't know from where. She shared song with Virgil Carstairs and Abigail Reid. [2]

Am
You can hear them if you try,

Dm
hissing, twisting from brackish sky.

Cm
Shut the shutters, lock the doors.

Am G Em Am
Close your mouth to save your souls.

Starving, wasting, the wraith are hunting
Town to fen, ever hastening.
It's souls they seek, yours would suffice,
But there's a better sacrifice.

Refrain:
Come and pray with me.
May we never see
Not in our dreams or with our eyes
Dementors darkening the skies.

Once a time of bone and flesh,
Severed now ne'er to rest.
These broken souls once warm and gentle
Are now wraiths' feast, a pity a Pentral.

Refrain:
Come and pray with me
May there never be
Strangers none behind our eyes
Pentrals dwelling here inside

So if you wish your soul to cherish
Safe inside you e’er you perish,
Heed my words and grit your teeth.
Remember a Pentral is what they eat.
