Plot:Kelpie Sightings
From Absit Omen Lexicon
Heliotrope LeJean, the part merperson Hufflepuff, spends most of her time swimming in the lake. Curosity gets the better of Tynan MacFusty and Dilly Morris who stop and ask what Heliotrope is up to. The students are attacked by a kelpie colt that moves close to the shore.

Heliotrope spends a Saturday afternoon picking weeds out of the lake. As she works along the shore, Tynan and Dilly ask her what all the weeds are for. She explains that she uses them for fishing. Not believing her, the other children watch her give a demonstration. Dilly spots a kelpie colt rising from the water. The quick instincts of the raised by merfolk Heliotrope are able to stun the creature. Tynan and Heliotrope work swiftly to tie it down.

At the Hogwarts Career Fair, Heliotrope becomes something of an oddity at the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures booth.
