“What are you doing here? I only just got your postcard yesterday.” He dried his face on yesterday’s tea towel, a cat chasing a ball of wool around the material. “Thought you were trying to find yourself with some meditation camp?”Cepheus Gamp
It was going to Ri's head. Typical Slytherin. He even tapped the base of his wine glass like their mother had. Their mother did it to hurry the house elf. The hairs on the back of Andromeda's neck raised. Solly filled Ri's glass. He shooed her away. Raised a toast. Andromeda blinked twice. It was like a ghost had entered the room.Andromeda Gamp
Orion’s father was imprisoned in this hospital, and he’d not so much as had a visitor from family in a year. A small part of Orion wondered if their father was even alive, given they’d seen nothing about him. But something, somewhere, in Orion’s gut instinct, told him that somewhere nearby an old wizard was waiting.Lyra Gamp
She crept forward. Why was her brother reading in the dead of night?
Andromeda lit her wand. Held it over the first book. Was Orion reading alchemy? These were books of symbols, instructions for complicated potions. Far beyond her NEWT in potions. She reached for the next book.
A floorboard creaked behind her. Andromeda’s fingers released the book. She extinguished her wand. Swung round and fired her hex. The figure came out of nowhere. They landed with heavy on the bed and wrestled. One of the books jammed between Andromeda’s shoulder blades.
....
"Since when did you read alchemy?" "Alchemy?" Ri asked. "This is Portuguese. I’m brushing up. Can’t sleep. I know it’s foreign, but it’s still the same alphabet, sister."
"What?" Andromeda studied the book. She had been sure she had seen alchemist symbols. But the book pages were just translations for maladies and illness. The previous page a diagram of the body with labels. In Portuguese. She dropped the book. Reached for another. The whole thing was written in Portuguese. And the next. And the next.Andromeda Gamp
That was how they had met, all those years ago. Nadine’s family had brought her to Godric’s Hollow to study under the former unspeakable. To get a basic education ahead of attending Hogwarts. Orion’s mother had instructed magical children on how to form letters, basic runes, to ink their quills and perform basic arithmetic. They were the middle class and upper middle class, who couldn’t afford private tutors and didn’t want to send their children to Muggle primary schools. Those who might have once sent their children to the one-room primary at Godric’s Hollow before the schoolteacher had been gutted by a hippogriff. “Well, as you might recall, your mother was tutoring her until this time last year.” Nadine drew a line through the spiral in the damp and sat straighter on her stool, folding her hands, one over the other on her bent knee.Nadine Pinn
“I was telling him about Aoide’s first term at Hogwarts…” Nadine continued, wrinkling her nose. The dust was beginning to tickle it, she was sure. “You know what?” She glanced down at Andromeda’s raven hair. No sign of any reaction whatsoever, so Nadine pressed on. She had a captive audience! “He asked if I’d considered a tutor.” Nothing. “I couldn’t quite believe it. Him!” Nadine threw her hands up in exaggerated astonishment. “He never had a good word to say about me choosing to get Ari and then Aoide tutored by your mother.”Nadine Pinn

The post bundle left his grip. Envelopes scattered everywhere. A postcard slid right under the sofa.
Ceph braced himself on the rug beside the piano and swore loudly. Claude yeowled and shot underneath his desk, sulking at being accidentally kicked. His owner issued placating apologies as he got back to his feet, blood still dripping from his fingers.
His luck had to improve from here, surely?
“Fate have mercy…”Cepheus Gamp
Dear Mr Gamp,
Further to our conversation on the 2nd. I have scheduled a follow up meeting to set your visitation.
I look forward to seeing you again on the 14th at a quarter past ten.Sandy Misslethorpe
Cepheus handed her a postcard. It was a picturesque view. Somewhere on the coast. Sunny. Hot. Bright blue sea. A proper holiday postcard. Just like Ri would send. Especially if it was rubbish weather at home. Andie turned it over. Recognized her brother's handwriting instantly. Her brother was at the house. In Godric's Hollow. He waved her off in his underpants that morning. Typical Orion.
'I can't believe it is February.' the postcard read. Andie frowned. Orion came home in January. But here was a postcard that said it was written in February. It was dated last Wednesday.
'That retreat was too good. I was only meant to be there four days. But it was like ten when I came out. Trippy. I must have smoked-'
"Do you think he set this up as a joke?" asked Andie. "Because this is elaborate for Ri." Andie's gut twisted. The handwriting looked absolutely right but something was definitely not right.Andromeda Gamp

"When did you last hear from him?" "This morning." Rosetta blinked. "He sent some drafts with that Bengal eagle-owl." The editor looked up and pointed out the owl. It was fast asleep. On a beam above what looked like two indoor palms.Andromeda Gamp
“Oh I don’t think I’ll become an umbrella.” Orion assured Healer Misslethorpe. The hand that appeared to be scratching his ribs closed on his wand instead. The poor healer had no time to react. A flash of red light hit him at the top of his chest, and he pitched backwards, unconscious, the chair hitting the floor. Orion’s attention didn’t linger. He pointed swiftly to the door, locking it.Lyra Gamp
"Move away from the door. Final warning. You are not Healer Misslethorpe. They are a metamorph. They have taken his form. Healer Misslethorpe is in his office. I found him unconscious."Andromeda Gamp
“That’s Misslethorpe!” Cepheus exclaimed, recognising the unconscious body. “Is he de -?” He caught sight of quiet, steady movement of the chest under a thin white vest and leaned against the wardrobe door in relief. There were no bloody gashes or missing limbs. It just looked as if he’d been knocked out.Cepheus Gamp

Lyra Gamp is currently in custody of Law Enforcement, where she will undergo thorough questioning before going on trial at the Wizengamot. The whereabouts of her husband was initially unknown - he disappeared mid-confrontation - but was later confirmed by the Ministry.
