Minster of Magic Marcus Annwyl is engaged to Mediwitch Moira Randall. Ever in pursuit of law, order and sabotague, Theodora Kingstreet plans to frame Moira by hiring Devlin Matthews as Jack Spade to plant illegal Runespoor eggs at St. Mungo's. However, the letter giving instructions is intercepted by Aurors, who lay a trap for Kingstreet and this unknown teenager called Spade.
The Wizengamot will convene in one week for the release hearing of convicted traitor Theodora Kingstreet. Kingstreet was convicted in 1998 of crimes against the Ministry of Magic, chief of which was attempting to unlawfully unseat former Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour, and forging visitors' passes for Lord Voldemort and a number of Death Eaters. Kingstreet has served almost ten years in Azkaban and the Wizengamot is considering her early release.Niobe Thursby
Upon hearing of the engagement of Marcus Annwyl to Moira Randall, Theodora Kingstreet hatches a plan to besmirch the whole affair. She pens a letter to her student lackey Devlin Matthews, addressing him as Jack Spade, his alias. She tells him that he will be depositing very illegal Runespoor eggs in Moira Randall's locker at St. Mungo's.
That horrible common witch is named Moira Randall and she is a Mediwitch at St. Mungo's Hospital. You should plant the Runespoor eggs in her personal affects there. I will handle the rest by seeing to it that she's found out, publically dishonored, likely drug through an embarrassing trial and thus continue making strides to destroy Marcus Annwyl. I'd just die if that man ever smiled again.Theodora Kingstreet
The same morning the owl was sent on its way to Hogsmeade, Auror Zora Roh intercepted it while doing routine owl-catching and surveillance of the Black Chimaera. Because of the cleanliness and handwriting on the envelope, Roh has cause to link it directly to the fugitive Theodora Kingstreet. Roh, Tamis Raynor and new Auror Paul Martin inspect the letter and formulate a plan to sabotage the evil plot.
Only a few days before Christmas does the plot finally go down. Devlin Matthews plans to transform into a rat and use the willing Kitty Li to get inside St. Mungo's. She creates a diversion of a the spoiled daughter of a hospital benefactor while he plants the eggs. Aurors wait to ambush Spade, however he never shows. Auror Zora Roh, grows impatient and worrying that they'll miss the bust, breaks rank and enters the hospital.
Inside she discovers Devlin Matthews in the act of planting the runespoor eggs in Randall's employee locker. Zora, assuming he's her mark, arrests him roughly before Samuel Harcroft, Senior Auror, catches up and intervenes.
After being interrogated, meeting with a lawyer and being held overnight, Devlin Matthews receives a visit from girlfriend Fauna Blake. Fauna had not seen him since the werewolf support event and her owls had gone unanswered. However, she heard through the grapevine what had become of Devlin.
Fauna got a few concerned and questioning letters from friends, but the majority were from McFloozy and her gaggle of airheads. Or so Fauna suspected, upon reading tripe like this:
haha fawna ur boyfriends going 2 azkabannnn!
The suspect is alleged to have been involved in a scheme to frame Moira Randall, a mediwitch at St. Mungo's and the fiancee of our Minister of Magic Marcus Annwyl. Runespoor eggs were found on his person where he was arrested in the employee locker room at the hospital.
Theodora Kingstreet is deeply disappointed, murderous even, that Devlin has failed to perform her task. And although she does not yet understand the extent to which her cover might be blown, she has sought the skills of one Melanthe Grumman to set him to rights. They meet at the Black Chimaera over Christmas.
Theodora's nostrils flared as she inhaled the cinimmony holiday scent of her tea, basking in the comforting thought of what she would do to Devlin Matthews. Disembowelment. Cruciatus, perhaps. And apple-spiced tea.Theodora Kingstreet
Melanthe Grumman, a hired "human resources consultant" of Theodora Kingstreet, ambushes and kidnaps Devlin Matthews in the streets, after luring him out of rural Kent to Diagon Alley. She ties him to the chair and punishes him in the ways Kingstreet demanded.
While this is going on, Knox Greyfriar has discovered that his son is missing, and frantically initiates a Floo-Face conversation with Fauna Blake in the Hufflepuff common room. She reveals that they've broken up and that Devlin may be looking for Jack Spade.
After Knox finds Devlin, gets him home, and realizes he is not in danger of dying, Knox goes to the Ministry of Magic and demands to speak with Tamis Raynor with the goal of reporting the crime, but keeping the Aurors away from Devlin - at least until he's well.
Waker Nolan confronts Devlin's erratic behavior by owl, demanding to know the truth about everything - his relationship with Fauna Blake and his criminal charges.
For the last week, Knox has been doing everything he can to care for Devlin who has had a rough road recovering from his injuries. Knox still doesn't know what happened, but is determined to see his son safe and sound, and avoid the Aurors until he feels that goal is met. But Devlin decides on his own that it's time to come clean.
One of the Ministry of Magic's Most Wanted - a witch guilty of murder,assault, kidnapping, sabotage, fraud, and forgery - has been brought to justice after nearly two years. Theodora Kingstreet (60) has been sentenced to 99 years in Azkaban Prison with no option of parole.Niobe Thursby
