In the first time since in over a decade, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be host to an international students' tournament, this year so named the TetraWizard Tournament. The First Task of the tournament begins on the Quidditch Pitch, where a tangled labyrinth of thorns has been growing, and at the center of the lair? A gargantuan Acromantula, charged with protecting a box. All through the labyrinth are pitfalls and perils. Each Champion's goal is to retrieve their box, one at a time.

A Particular Puzzle

The first champions (with the exception of poor Teodosio Medici), recovered their prize - small sealed chests with no identifiable markings. The boxes seemed impossible to open by spell or by force. And then, on October 1, an image of a thestral appeared there-on, giving the Champions their first real clue as to how to get inside...

All the while, their progress is observed by the small delegations via four magic mirrors that show, not tell. And delivering news of the Task to all of the Wizarding World is Basil Rathbone (NPC) from the Wizarding Wireless Network.

A small crowd consisting of the champions, delegation staff, press and tournament officials arrived at a rather plain looking hallway on the second floor in the late evening - it would be the staging ground for the Second Task! And then into the the bathroom of all places they went! After some ceremony, all descend into the Chamber of Secrets! ( Professor Bai Li Yang of Salem speaks in Parseltongue to open the Chamber.)

In a sad twist of fate, Alexandra Carstairs is unable to compete at the last minute and the Goblet chooses Raine Almasy instead.

Then, each team is asked to choose between four tunnels, in order of how they placed in the First Task.

"Herschel Reid has indeed submitted his resignation," confirmed Hogwarts School Governor Olga Sprightly. Madam Sprightly would not give any more information, but we are led to believe that the post has been offered to former headmistress and recent recipient of the Order of Merlin First Class Minerva McGonagall. McGonagall had already been considered for the post this summer after the startling disappearance of Analiza Snark (still missing). However, entrenched in retirement, McGonagall refused and instead backed the installment of Herschel Reid unflinchingly.Herman Hernandez

Results are announced surrounding the controversial Third Task of the TetraWizard Tournament. Disputed scoring and grave injuries prompted an internal Tournament investigation and thus a lengthly delay, but the Tournament Committee has officially ruled.

"I don't know what was so controversial. It wasn't a real dragon," said Gretchen Holloway-Wiegh of the Department of International Magical Cooperation. "We didn't have a permit for that."

"It was only a flesh wound," said Alberic Knobbles of the Tournament Health & Safetey Sub-Committee. "Exactly what you'd expect from a Flesh-Wounding Fungus. It went exactly as planned."

"What's a what now? A puca? Those are fictional," further commented Holloway-Wiegh against complaints of an old world shapeshifting demon being present in the wood. "Honestly, now you're just making things up."

The Quidditch Stadium has been taken over my a magical hedge courtesy of Branwen Strangely and support form the Tournament officials.

This task was organized with a randomized grid and the champions' writers took turns choosing their path to discover random obstacles in search of the Cup!

In the end, the team from Salem found the Cup and was portkey'd to the victory dais to uproarious applause!

The final scores and the winner of the Tournament are set to be awarded at the End of Term Feast.
Outside The Maze

The Quidditch pitch was completely unrecognisable. A twenty-foot-high hedge ran all the way around the edge of it. There was a gap right at the front, to a vast maze, and the passage beyond it looked dark and creepy.
