The First Task of the tournament begins on the Quidditch Pitch, where a tangled labyrinth of thorns has been growing, and at the center of the lair? A gargantuan Acromantual, charged with protecting a box. All through the labyrinth are pitfalls and perils. Each Champion's goal is to retrieve their box, one at a time.

A Hogwarts Howler article by Figaro Sellaphix describes last night's scores, and comments on some of the stranger performances. (This was not the official announcement - the scores would have been awarded sometime after the completion of the First Task by Tournament officials, whoever they are.)

What's In The Box
The first champions (with the exception of poor Teodosio Medici), recovered their prize - small sealed chests with no identifiable markings. The boxes seemed impossible to open by spell or by force. And then, on October 1, an image of a thestral appeared there-on, giving the Champions their first real clue as to how to get inside...

- Have You Tried Open Sesame? on Oct 4 with Sasha Schlagenweit and Tapendra Trishna
- Eight Sides to Every Story on Oct 10 with Taryn Dickenson, Dahlia Collins, and Casey O'Doherty

Each box would have revealed a riddle which described the date, time, location and the nature of the Second Task.
The Second Task
October 25, 2009
The school is assembled after dinner, along with special guests and the press. Tournament officials gather and the rules of the Tournament are reviewed.
Two champions were chosen from each school:
Hogwarts | Beauxbatons | Durmstrang | Salem |
A Pox on Salem
In early November, smack in the middle of the Second Task, word gets out that Salem might not be eligible. See the branching plot: A Pox on Salem
November 4, 2009
Before the task, Durmstrang gets together to sort out a strategy as they decode the clues from the three thestral boxes.
- Preparations Make Us Who We Are with Ylva Maras, Atash Hendurabi, Heinrich Faust and Fyetka Strelnikov
November 21, 2009
A small crowd consisting of the champions, delegation staff, press and tournament officials arrived at a rather plain looking hallway on the second floor in the late evening - it would be the staging ground for the Second Task! And then into the the bathroom off all places they went! After some ceremony, all descend into the Chamber of Secrets! ( Professor Bai Li Yang of Salem speaks in Parseltongue to open the Chamber.)
In a sad twist of fate, Alexandra Carstairs is unable to compete at the last minute and the Goblet chooses Raine Almasy instead.
Then, each team is asked to choose between four tunnels, in order of how they placed in the First Task.
- Durmstrang chooses KNOWLEDGE
- Salem chooses WEALTH
- Hogwarts chooses GLORY
- Beauxbatons is left with BEAUTY
All the while, their progress is observed by the small delegations via four magic mirrors that show, not tell. And delivering news of the Task to all of the Wizarding World is Basil Rathbone (NPC) from the Wizarding Wireless Network.
December 19, 2009
About a month later, the results of the Second Task are revealed at a grand ball. [1]

Immediately following, the champions are called to have their wands inspected, this time by both Garrick Ollivander and new Professor of Herbology, wandmaster Deaglan McDonough.
January 24, 2010
Leading up to this Third Task, the Champions are given no clues, not a whisper. Only when they should report to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
The Fourth & Final Task
A fourth school and a fourth task. The TetraWizard Tournament surely has been a monumental undertaking.
Five champions were chosen from each school (although some were NPCs)
Hogwarts | Beauxbatons | Durmstrang | Salem |

The Quidditch Stadium has been taken over my a magical hedge courtesy of Branwen Strangely and support form the Tournament officials. Outside The Maze
This task was organized with a randomized grid and the champions' writers took turns choosing their path to discover random obstacles in search of the Cup!
In the end, the team from Salem found the Cup and was portkey'd to the victory dais to uproarious applause!
The final scores and the winner of the Tournament are set to be awarded at the End of Term Feast.
